SCA Group supported Ice Memory: Heritage Library of Ice Core Samples, an initiative by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation aimed at preserving ice core samples. These samples are critical archives of past climate conditions and are at risk of disappearing due to global warming.
The program focuses on:
• Conserving and analyzing ice cores threatened by rising temperatures.
• Building international cooperation to collect samples from glaciers worldwide.
So far, five drilling missions have taken place across key locations, and a long-term storage facility has been established at Concordia Station in Antarctica. A 20-year management plan will guide the preservation and use of the collected data, ensuring that future generations of scientists can access this priceless raw material.
This initiative reflects SCA Group’s commitment to climate research and the protection of our planet’s environmental heritage.
